Professor Tadhg Ó hAnnracháin elected to the Royal Irish Academy
The School of History congratulates Professor Tadhg Ó hAnnracháin on his election to the Royal Irish Academy. Membership of the Royal Irish Academy is the highest academic distinction in Ireland and recognises exceptional scholarship.
Professor Ó hAnnracháin is a world leading expert in the history of early modern Ireland and the religious history of early modern Europe. His work has reshaped how scholars understand religious change and conflict during this critical period in Irish and European history. Confessionalism and Mobility in Early Modern Ireland is his most recent and third monograph, published by Oxford University Press in 2021. In addition, he has edited four books and written numerous articles and chapters in leading journals and books.
Last year he was appointed at editor of the Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy, which showcases research not only in history, but also in archaeology, literature and linguistics. He has also served as Head of the School of History between 2014 and 2017.
